Campbell Clan
The name Campbell is synonymous with Scottish history and is probably one of the most well known of all the Scottish clans. Various theories exist for the origins of the surname Campbell. All the way from Norman scribes at the time of Kind David of Scotland misspelling the Gaelic name ‘Cambeul’ to the way that Sir Cailein Mor Campbell\\\'s grandfather Dugald of Lochawe who was given the nickname ‘Cam Beul’ (curved mouth) because he had a habit of talking out of one side of his mouth. The French name ‘de Campo Bello’ is also sometimes thought to be connected via a knight of that name who came to England with William the Conqueror...
